A new affordable housing facility for seniors has opened its doors in Peachland.
The building on 6th Street hosts 74 units, an amenities room, and scooter storage.
The facility will allow some 90 fixed-income seniors to remain in the community according to Courtney-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard.
"Seniors are particularly at risk of homelessness when they're on fixed incomes and there isn't a range of affordable rental units available."
Rent ranges between $780 and $1,200 per month. The building will be operated by the Peachland Seniors' Support Society.
"I met a woman who was just smiling ear to ear. She came up to me and said 'thank you, it's changed my life being able to move here"
