Central Okanagan emergency officials say a severe wave action warning is in effect for all lakefront property owners, after high winds have rolled through the valley Tuesday night.
The winds, which are reportedly moving up to 70 km/h, have created a storm surge phenomenon on the lake, which is when the air is strong enough to push a body of water in one direction, causing large waves.
Emergency crews are out on inspecting and assessing flood protection infrastructure, as well as the state of the eroding shoreline.
No further evacuation orders have been given, and officials say those would happen if people were facing imminent danger.
Along with the big waves, the over-saturated ground is also increasing the risk of falling trees.
