Armed RCMP officers could be seen scouring Pandosy Street early Thursday morning in response to a report of a man waving a gun in the area.
RCMP arrived shortly after 5 AM, and managed to locate a man in the parking lot of Kelowna General Hospital, showing signs of emotional distress.
Officers were able to calm the man down before taking him to the hospital to undergo a full evaluation.
RCMP Corporal Jesse O’Donaghey says measures were put in place to secure the nearby hospital.
We worked very closely with the hospital officials during this event as it unfolded,” says O’Donaghey. “Given the nature of the complaint, the hospital was placed on a brief hold.”
Contrary to the report, police do not believe that the man was in possession of a gun.
It’s unknown at this time whether or not he will be facing any criminal charges relating to the incident.
