On July 6, 2017 at 6:11 am, Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery just committed at the Skogies Petro Canada gas station and convenience store located at 1830 Underhill Road in Kelowna. While responding to the scene, police were updated that the female suspect had fled in an older model red and blue pickup truck with a bicycle in the back.
“Within minutes of the robbery, an officer with the Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Section located the vehicle abandoned, and the bike missing, near the intersection of Springfield Road and Benvoilin Road,” states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “Efforts to locate the female suspect have been unsuccessful at this time.”
Police have learned that the female suspect entered the store, brandished what appeared to be a knife and a metal bar to the lone employee and demanded both cigarettes and cash. The suspect did in fact flee the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and tobacco products. The employee was not physically injured during the incident.
“Further investigation has revealed that the pickup truck, allegedly used by the suspect in the armed robbery, had been reported as stolen to police, taken sometime overnight from the 1400 block of Richter Street. The vehicle has been seized and remains part of the ongoing investigation,” adds Cpl. O’Donaghey.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian female, in her 30’s, approximately 5 foot 5 inches tall, of slim build, with shoulder length brown hair, she was seen wearing a red plaid jacket, white and blue baseball cap, blue jeans and black shoes with pink laces.
