A small fire was put out by the Kelowna Fire Department on Monday afternoon at a home on Cactus Road.
3 fire engines, 1 rescue, 1 safety, and 1 command vehicles responded after a bystander reported smoke coming from the house at 1:20 PM.
Crews discovered a small fire in the attic, and quickly extinguished it before it could spread to other parts of the house.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical shortage of a roof vent.
Platoon Captain Kelly Stephens says damage to the residence was minimal.
"There was very little smoke, and there was a little bit of water (from extinguishing the fire) but we tried to mitigate it with tarps in our salvage and overhaul stage," says Stephens.
None of the five residents living at the house were home at the time of the fire.
