In an update from the BC Wildfire Service, the Gottfriedson Mountain wildfire west of West Kelowna is currently estimated to be 730 hectares in size.
That number is subject to change, however, as the heavy smoke in the region is making if diffucult for aircraft to fully and properly map out the exact size of the fire.
Fire Information Officer Stephen Kada says the situation appears fairly steady otherwise.
"The fire hasn't moved overnight," says Kada. "We have crews and heavy equipment in there working on the construction of control lines, and aircraft will be supporting them if required."
So far, crews have been able to establish control lines around 75 percent of the Gottfriedson Mountain fire, which is classified as rank 1 - the lowest classification of wildfire intensity.
Evacuation alerts remain in effect for residences in the Pennask Lake and Hatheume Lake region north of Highway 97.
