Winter has made an early appearance this year, catching many motorists off guard.
“Most valley bottom areas from Kamloops through Kelowna to Princeton picked up anywhere from 15 to 20 cm,” says Environment Canada Meteorologist, Matt MacDonald “And then up on the highways it was close to 30 in a lot of places”
He says normally we wouldn't get this kind of weather until late November.
“November is the beginning of storm season in B.C. but typically we only start seeing snow at valley bottom kind of mid to later half of November,’ he says “So I’d say were about 2 to 3 weeks ahead of schedule with this snowfall.
The snow is expected to stick around until early next week.
“Heading to weekend here temperatures are going to be 5 to 8 degrees below normal for this time of year so all the snow that has fallen is here to stay for at least for the next 4 days,” he said “As we get into Tuesday of next week, we’ll get into a more mild and a typical weather pattern for this time of year, so we’ll see the rain return and daily highs above zero.”
