Environment Canada has issued a snowfall alert for the mountain passes for Monday night through Tuesday afternoon.
Total amounts of 2 to 10 cms could fall on the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt and from Merritt to Kamloops - also on Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton through Allison Pass, and from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass - and the Connector from Kelowna to Merritt.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Cindy Yu says for some highways, the snow won't last long.
"We are expecting the snow level to rise on Tuesday afternoon to about 1,500 metres, which means the snow should change to rain over the Coquihalla and especially Highway 3 - Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass," she says.
But Yu says snow could continue into Tuesday afternoon at Pennask Summit on the Connector and on Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
