South Okanagan West Kootenay local MP, Richard Cannings will host three virtual Town Hall meetings through Facebook Live in each of the three coming weeks. Forums will focus on community concerns posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Themes include health, the economy and a special open-topic session with NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh.
“In extraordinary times like these, we all have questions,” said Cannings, “I have invited colleagues from Parliament and local government with expertise in areas like health and the economy to help people get answers to the questions that are weighing heavily on their minds and their workplaces.”
“I love seeing the constituents I serve face-to-face but democracy will look different over the coming months. We need to find ways to stay connected and engaged with voices in Ottawa who are fighting for the supports we need to get us through this crisis.”
The first Facebook Live Town Hall is on Monday, April 27th when MP Peter Julian, House Leader for NDP and Critic for Finance will join Cannings. MP and Critic for Health, Don Davies, will join Cannings the following week on May 5th along with Petra Veintimilla, Oliver Councillor and Chair of the Okanagan Similkameen Regional Hospital District. Jagmeet Singh will join as the special guest the final week. The forums begin at 6pm. The public can participate in the forums through Facebook Live online at facebook.com/richardjcannings.
