Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Okanagan.
Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau says it covers Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton..
"A Pacific cold front is approaching the BC coast Thursday evening, and ahead of it we have a warm, moist air mass that has settled over the southern interior of BC," says Charbonneau. "And that's going to combine to create conditions for thunderstorm development, and potentially heavy downpours from those thunderstorms - so that's expected Thursday night into Friday."
Charbonneau says with heavy rain a possibility on Friday - maybe 15 to 25 mm - there's an increased risk of flooding when you combine that with the spring snow melt.
