Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Sourthern Interior.
Meteorologist Cindy Yu says there are a couple of concerns - hot temperatures over the weekend, and on Tuesday, could speed-up the snowmelt, possibly causing more flooding - then a storm system is on the way for Tuesday evening.
"We're expecting a cold front to move through the Okanagan tonight. Ahead of the front, winds with gust from the south at 30 to 50-kmh, but more importantly the winds behind the front are expected to gust from the north at 40 to 70 kmh this evening," she says.
Yu says the strong winds, combined with high water levels on Okanagan Lake, could result in increased wave action that may impact shorelines and lakeside roads.
Yu says Tuesday and Wednesday we could receive 5 to 10 mms of rain, with the risk of a thunderstorm - then on Thursday we're back to sunshine and warm temperatures through the weekend.
