A tentative contract agreement between the Amalgamated Transit Union and First Transit, for Central Okanagan bus drivers.
Kelowna Union President Scott Lovell says it was not an easy negotiation. The two sides went to the bargaining table on 16 separate occasions in order to get a deal done. Lovell says the membership will see the fine print on April 23rd.
Lovell adds,"In any negotiations you are never going to find the perfect spot, but you get to the point where there's a certain common ground. That's why it's up to the members to decide if they accept that common ground. It's our job as the negotiating committee to bring it back to them."
Lovell would not reveal any of the specifics of the tentative contract. Although in past interviews he has said wages and safety were two of the key issues.
