Following what's being called, an extensive search across Canada, the City of Kelowna has a new fire chief.
Dwight Seymour has been appointed, effective February 19th.
Seymour replaces outgoing Fire Chief, Travis Whiting, who has accepted a position as Fire Chief for the Whitehorse Fire Department in the Yukon Territory.
Seymour joined Kelowna Fire back in 2021 as Assistant Chief of Training and Prevention.
The following year, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Operations.
Before coming to Kelowna, Seymour served as Deputy Chief for the City of Vernon and for the Town Of Okotoks in Alberta.
He is a graduate of the intensive LA fire department leadership Academy and holds a diploma in business administration.
