Adam Foote is the new Head Coach of the Kelowna Rockets. Owner Bruce Hamilton introduced him this morning at a news conference.
It was perhaps the worst kept secret in hockey. Following Hamilton's firing of Coach Jason Smith yesterday, social media exploded with speculation, most noteably Twitter where posts could be followed from Colorado, Vancouver. Toronto and Kelowna.
Foote is 47 years old. He played 17 years in the NHL with Quebec Nordique, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets and back to Colorado. He won Stanley Cup rings in 1996 and 2001 with Colorado. He was also a member of Team Canada winning a gold medal at the 2002 Olympics and another gold medal at the 2004 World Hockey Championships.
Foote has two sons. Cal was a star defenseman with the Rockets now playing pro with the Syracuse Crunch, the farm team of the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning. Younger son Nolan is a Rockets forward and Assistant Captain.
