Kelowna RCMP arrested a prolific offender over the weekend with the help of a bait car.
On Sunday evening, they were notified that 37-year-old Kenneth Fawcett had broken into and driven off in the vehicle.
Following video surveillance, RCMP determined that Fawcett driving towards Lake Country.
Constable Lesley Smith says they were then able to remotely pull over the car.
“Once police were able to tactically get in position, that vehicle’s engine was disabled, and the sole male occupant was taken into custody without incident,” says Smith.
This is far from the first time that Fawcett has been in trouble with the law.
“He’s got a lengthy criminal record, and that includes vehicle theft, and other property-related offenses,” says Smith.
Following his arrest on Sunday, Fawcett faces charges of theft over $5,000 and driving while suspended.
He made his first court appearance on Monday, and remains in police custody.
