With a possible Liberal defeat this fall, some insiders are already strategizing a path to the party leadership.
One suggestion is former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney.
"Anytime they are down in the polls, they look for someone to be the bright, shining light to bring them in."
Okanagan MP Dan Albas says it isn't surprised, considering the prime minister's track record.
"This is a prime minister that is in serious trouble and the Liberals are throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. A few of them are planning a post Trudeau period."
Carney’s term at the Bank of England ends in January.
