For property owners in flood prone areas around the entral Okanagan, it's time to think flood preparation.
Monday, March 25th in West Kelowna, the city will provide sand and sandbags for residents to take precautions.
West Kelowna Communications Supervisor Kirsten Jones says property owners are also reminded to keep their catch basins and culverts clear of debris.
"These are the culverts and catch basins adjacent to their properties that can get clogged up with leaves and debris especially as the melt happens. So we're asking residents to clear them out because we want the water to flow where it should," says Jones.
West Kelowna will begin staging supplies of sand and sandbags at the following locations:
Please note, these supplies are for flood preparation only. Do not take sand or sandbags for any other reason.
