At approximately 6:22 PM Thursday night, Kelowna Fire Department Dispatch received a 911 call reporting black smoke coming from a bedroom in a townhouse residence in the 200 Block of Briarwood Road.
Initial crews made entry into the residence and found smoke and flames coming from a 2nd story bedroom. Crews managed to quickly extinguish the stubborn fire before it extended into the roof and other units
The fire crews completed overhaul and checked for any extension in all units.
The single unit was damaged with smoke and water, which made occupants unable to return to it. The three other units sustained no damage and occupants returned to their homes.
Four occupants have been displaced and are being assisted by Emergency Support Services.
Three people from the unit where taken to KGH for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is not deemed suspicious.
Four Engines, a Command Unit, Ladder truck, Rescue truck and a Safety Vehicle with 21 fire personnel were on scene along with RCMP, EHS and Fortis.
