Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shook the hands of firefighters during a brief visit to a Kelowna fire hall Tuesday afternoon.
Trudeau took a few minutes to speak, specifically, to Wildfire Officer Randy Burgess of the Penticton Fire Zone.
"For him to take time out of his schedule to come and say thanks, I think that is great. He asked detailed questions about a couple of fires here, so he has been obviously been briefed and he took interest in what we were doing".
Trudeau also chatted with several UBC Okanagan students including Tyrell Lamoureux.
"You see him on TV and you see him doing his stuff in Parliament. It is a whole other world when you actually get to shake his hand and talk to him. Obviously, he is a real nice guy. It was really nice".
Trudeau concluded the day with a stroll up Knox Mountain, one of Kelowna's most well visited hiking trails.
