West Kelowna RCMP continue to investigate two separate incidents Thursday that ended with two suspects in custody - and one still at large.
When police responded to reports of a possible impaired driver on Merlot Drive shortly before 1 pm - they recognized the male as a suspect in recent property crimes. When officers approached - he fled from his vehicle on foot.
Police were not able to locate the man, but officers did find a bag containing a loaded gun - and a search of his silver Cadillac turned up stolen property inside.
Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey says while they were actively searching for the man, a black Ford Mustang was seen being operated in a dangerous manner and speeding through the area.
"Given the high risk nature the vehicle was being driven, investigators considered the possibility that their suspect was an occupant of the vehicle and chose to monitor its movements in the Vernon RCMP’s jurisdiction from the sky using our fixed wing aircraft," he says.
The Mustang was found on Briarwood Road, north of Fintry, and a 27-year-old Kelowna man, and a 28-year-old West Kelowna woman, were arrested.
O'Donaghey says the pair are not connected to the original incident on Merlot Drive - but both face charges. The male suspect was also wanted on several unrelated warrants.
The other suspect is described as a Caucasian male, about 5-foot-7, 140 pounds with short hair.
He was last seen wearing grey sweat pants, a black t-shirt and a flat brimmed hat.
