Two suspects arrested on the William Bennett Bridge yesterday morning are expected to make a court appearance today.
The two men, ages 33 and 25, were arrested after fleeing from police in Penticton. Officers had pulled over a "suspicious vehicle", but before police could speak with the two men, the driver sped off.
Police didn't pursue the vehicle but Police Dog Services and Air Services were engaged, and attempts were made to stop the vehicle in West Kelowna.
Police then shut down the eastbound lanes on the bridge, where the vehicle was finally stopped at around 10:00am, and the two men were arrested. Police say they shut down the bridge for safety reasons.
Witnesses saw officers with guns drawn and several damaged cars on the bridge, including a police car.
Police are not saying how the suspect vehicle came to a stop or what potential charges the suspects are facing.
The men are expected to make a court appearance today.
The incident closed eastbound traffic for about an hour.
