A story breaking out of North Vancouver this morning where an investigation is underway after two dogs died of suspected poisoning. They think it might be poisonous mushrooms.
We talked to Dr. Moshe Oz at the Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital. He says it's very hard to confirm poisonous mushrooms, so he treats pets as if they have a drug toxicity or food poisoning. The worry is that this type of poisoning can crate problems with the liver. Dr. Oz has had a couple of drug toxicity or food poisoning cases recently. Just last week a pet was kept for 24 hours in order to have its system flushed. That dog is ok.
His best advice? At this time of year, clear your yard of any mushrooms and watch what your pets are eating off the ground.
