A Kelowna man accused of killing his wife and two daughters back in December 2017 is now facing upgraded charges.
Two of the three counts of second degree murder against 34-year-old Jacob Daniel Forman have been upgraded to first degree murder charges.
Forman was initially charged with three counts of second degree murder during his arrest, in which the bodies of Clara Forman and her two daughters, Karina and Yesenia, were discovered in their Rutland home.
During his latest court appearance on March 13th, crown counsel announced that new information had been sworn before the court which could see two of the murder charges upgraded to first degree.
These two upgraded charges are connected to the deaths of Karina and Yesenia.
Second degree murder means that the murder was not premediated, while first degree murder means that the act was indeed planned out.
The minimum sentence for first degree murder is life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Forman has made four court appearances since his arrest, appearing stone-faced and emotionless each time. He has yet to enter a plea.
His next court appearance will be Friday, April 13th, at 9:30 AM.
