UPDATE - 5:00 PM:
Fortis BC says repairs are complete on the gas leak between Cadder Avenue and Glenwood Road.
They also say roads in the area are now open as crews leave the area.
The 70 customers experiencing a temporary gas outage should have it restored by 7PM. Meanwhile, the residents of the nine evacuated homes near the leak are able to return home.

UPDATE - 12:45 PM:
Fortis BC has confirmed that the gas leak located between Cadder Avenue and Glenwood Avenue is under control, and repairs are currently underway.
"We are hoping tohave those repairs complete by 4:30," says Fortis Communications Advisor Nicole Bogdonavic. "Those homes that have experienced a temporary loss in service - we want to reassure them that our customer service technicians will visit each and every home and turn the gas back on for them."
At this time, approximately 70 homes are without gas service.
There are also nine homes in the vicinity of the gas leak that have been evacuated as a precaution.

A serious gas leak at a construction site at Richter Street and Glenwood Avenue. There are FortisBC and Kelowna Fire Department vehicles on personnel on scene. There's a heavy smell of gas through the area. Several homes have been evacuated for safety reasons.
Part of Richter is closed between Royal and Cadder.
