City of Kelowna firefighters and provincial BC Wildfire crews have contained a fire in the Knox Mountain area of Kelowna.
The fire was first spotted shortly after 2:00 pm.
Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Captain Kelly Stephens says the fire started above the second lookout.
"The Kelowna Fire Department had 18 members, supported by three members from BC Forest Service. Air support was called in early, we had two helicopters, and also two small 802 Air Tractors, which are the water bombers." he said.
"We didn't have any residences that were threatened. This time of year, and those dry conditions, we're just really happy that it wasn't wind-driven too badly off the lake, because that can change the dynamics very quickly as well."
He says some members will stay at the scene overnight as hot spots are extinguished.
At this time, no cause has been determined.
