A 39-year-old Kelowna man is in custody following a stand off with police on Monday.
Just before 5:00 am, neighbours reported a possible break-in at a home in Dilworth.
When officers arrived to investigate, they quickly had to retreat after encountering a man they believed to be armed inside the home.
Neighbouring houses were evacuated and a stand-off ensued, with police attempting to negotiate with the barricaded suspect.
After negotiations failed, the South East District Emergency Response Team stormed the house with the help of a police service dog.
The man was taken into custody shortly after 10:30 am.
Police say he is facing criminal charges.

Kelowna RCMP are currently negotiating with a man barricaded in a home in the Dilworth neigbourhood.
Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey says police were called to the house, just before 5:00 am, after neighbours reported a possible break in.
He says officers were about to enter the home when they had to retreat..
"At this time the evidence at the scene would suggest that the person inside is not the homeowner. We do believe it is an individual who had broken into that home, and it's become an armed and barricaded-type situation," he says.
O'Donaghey says nearby homes have been evacuated.
He says Kelowna RCMP, supported by the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team, are continuing efforts to make contact and negotiate with the man, while BC Emergency Health Services remains on standby near the scene.
