The registered owner of the pick-up truck involved in the fatal collision on 1st Avenue this morning has been located and subsequently arrested.
RCMP’s investigation is in its infancy, this man’s involvement in the collision is still under investigation.
First Avenue is still closed and is expected to remain closed for most of Sunday.
Kamloops RCMP is still asking for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
Specifically, police would like to talk to a female who was on foot at the scene and left shortly after the accident occurred
Sunday at 1:40 am Kamloops RCMP were called to a motor vehicle collision on 1st Avenue and Battle Street.
The collision occurred between a car with four occupants and a pick-up truck.
When officers arrived they found two occupants of the car were already deceased.
The other two occupants were taken to a local medical facility, one in life-threatening condition and the other with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pick-up truck had left the area before police arrived.
As police continue their investigation, 1st Avenue will be closed between Seymour Street and Nicola Street. Battle Street is closed from 2nd Avenue to Lee Road.
“Due to the severity of this collision, our investigation could take most of the day,” stated Cpl. Jodi Shelkie, “we thank motorists for avoiding this area and taking alternate routes.”
Kamloops RCMP ask anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.
