The Vancouver Aquarium has been hit hard financially by COVID-19 and recently announced they may have to permanently close their doors.
Sitting on the board for Ocean Wise, managers of the Vancouver Aquarium, the Okanagan’s Ned Bell told AM 1150’s Early Edition that means the marine science work stops too.
“We as Canadians are leaders in so many industries, and I can't think of a more important industry than the science of animal health and the species as such. Mother Nature needs us to care more about her.”
Bell stated if Mother Nature suffers, we all suffer.
Bell owns and works as a chef at Naramata Inn, one of the reasons he says he is so passionate about marine science.
Wild seafood Bell says is really the last wild animal people still eat and marine science helps to ensure it's still available for generations to come.
