Public service announcement from the City of Kelowna on May 12, 2020:
Residents, businesses and visitors are invited online to take a visual tour of some of the notable 2020 capital projects happening throughout the city and in their neighourhoods.
This year, the City is moving forward with approximately $70 million in capital projects to improve and maintain outdoor spaces, buildings, active transportation networks, water and sewer, and roads and bridges.
“While we are seeing reduced infrastructure budgets some projects are just too important to cancel,” said Alan Newcombe, Infrastructure Divisional Director for the City of Kelowna. “Doing so would only make them more expensive in the future and would cause a noticeable deterioration in roads and other basic services that citizens rely on every day.”
Activity will be happening in all areas of the city including work on Glenmore Recreation Park, the completion of Rutland Centennial Park, installation of the Westpoint watermain and construction of the final phase of the Ethel Street Active Transportation Corridor.
