High Okanagan Lake water levels didn't keep tourists away from the city over the Canada Day long weekend.
Chris Shauf with Tourism Kelowna says hotels report business as usual.
“In conversation with some of the local hotels and motels, they’re saying that they were at near sell-out which is traditionally what people would be seeing at that time of year,”
One hotel told AM1150 that some bookings were cancelled because of the postponed Canada Day Fireworks, but last-minute registrations made up for it.
Shauf says the visitor centre is still receiving a couple of calls a day from potential visitors, inquiring about the flooding.
“And then leading into the long weekend that volume increased, I think with people just making their final checks before heading out on their summer vacations.”
He says the centre informed people that many beaches were open, but also let them know that no or low-wake boating was encouraged.
