A Kelowna man charged with five counts of voyeurism will be sentenced next month.
40-year-old Todd Peters was arrested in January of 2017 after it was discovered he had used spy cameras to film five people while they were naked in a private residence.
This past February, Peters pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal that reduced his five charges to two.
Defence counsel Wade Jenson noted that his client suffered from a number of mental health issues, and had attempted suicide on a handful of occasions.
For a potential sentence, Crown counsel is seeking a house arrest sentence of 14-18 months for Peters, as well as two years of probation.
Peters spoke briefly at the end of Friday’s hearing, saying that he felt “awful and remorseful” about his actions.
Judge Lisa Wyatt postponed her sentencing to a later date, saying she would need some time to think of an appropriate sentence for Peters. The delay also gives time for any further documents to be presented.
A new sentencing date will be decided next week, and could take place as early as May 7th.
The identities of the five victims are protected under a publication ban.
