The West Kelowna Warriors are lending a hand to Glenrosa Elementary's Parent Advisory Council after $20,000 was stolen from their bank account this past summer.
"We donated a dollar of every ticket from our game on Friday to their fund," says Warriors owner Kim Dobranski. "We may continue that - we're just going to talk to them a little further about doing an ongoing financial support program for them."
Dobranski says they've also raised money by asking for donations at the door, and by sellingĀ 50/50 tickets.
"In the past, the 50/50 funds had gone to minor hockey, but I felt that it was better served to put it towards organizations that are in need of funds and looking for ways to support their programs."
So far, they've raised just under $1,000 for the Parent Advisory Council fund.
The stolen $20,000 would have gone towards events and activities for the school's 200 students. The advisory council member allegedly behind the theft is currently being investigated by police, but no arrest has been made at this time.
