Rutland Waterworks District says it will be enforcing city wide sprinkling regulations with water patrollers.
The district says the system is currently running above normal levels because of extremely hot weather and property owners not following the regulations.
The water patrollers will be circulating throughout neighbourhoods, checking to see if rules are being followed.
Under normal conditions, year round watering is permitted up to three days per week, and the specified regulations must be followed.
Odd numbered addresses may water only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and even numbered addresses may water only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Mondays are restricted to no outside watering for all households.
