Brand new signs will soon greet those entering West Kelowna.
City council has approved $18,700 to replace the city's two entrance signs with cedar wood.
The current signs, which are 7 years old, are made of metal panels with printed plastic wrap and have been peeling and cracking. The solar lighting system has also been vandalized.
City staff say the new signs will be more robust and visually pleasing from both sides and will look similar to the current ones, with the logo, designs, and raised lettering remaining. Vandal proof housing will also be installed to prevent the solar lights from being vandalized.
One of the two welcome signs is located just north of the Glenrosa overpass and the second is south of the Boucherie Rd and Hwy 97 intersection.
The city has already used cedar wood for other smaller signs around the city.
