West Kelowna is holding a community open house today (Oct 19) to present information on a number of issues.
City Spokesperson Kirsten Jones says the big topics will be construction of the new Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant, new infrastructure to connect existing water systems and new water rates.
"We did get a $40-million grant for that, but there's still about $17-million that has to be paid for by the city," says Jones."So the rates include new operating expenses, the capital portion and the new rates."
Jones says homeowners in the Lakeview system, for example, could see a rise in their quarterly water bills from $90 to $233 by 2021.
She says information will also be presented on a proposed new truck route, new regulations for secondary suites and carriage houses, what's new in recreation programs - and the design for Phase 2 of the Wine Trail Upgrade on Boucherie Road.
Also joining the open house will be the Central Okanagan Regional District, the Okanagan Basin Water Board, the Okanagan Regional Library, the Sterile Insect Release Program and WildSafeBC.
The open house begins at 4:00 pm at Westbank Lions Community Centre.
