The City of West Kelowna has received numerous complaints from snow plow operators and residents about parked cars blocking snowy streets.
City spokesperson Kirsten Jones says the city is installing temporary signs warning drivers to move vehicles to give snow plows access.
"People are getting frustrated and you can't blame them," says Jones. "It's a problem for neighbours who are trying to manouver around in their neighbourhood and there's all these cars and sometimes there's trailers parked there."
Jones says the city does have the power to issue tickets - a West Kelowna bylaw states vehicles cannot be left on the streets longer than 24 hours - but first they'll put up the temporary warning signs that read: "Plow working, Park off road".
"Because its a sign placed by the City of West Kelowna, we can ticket people for not complying, but certainly we don't want to start with that, we want to start with getting people off the roads so the plows can do their job," she says.
Jones says it's hoped residents will make the effort to move vehicles, because there's more snow in the forecast for Thursday.
