Thunderstorms and lightning kept BC Hydro workers at bay in West Kelowna on Friday.
Hydro Spokesperson Dag Sharman says crews were ready to replace a pole damaged by flooding from Smith Creek, but couldn't get to it because of lightning in the area.
"It's now scheduled for 8:00 am Saturday, May 6th and is expected to last 4 to 6 hours, so those 437 customers in Gellatly Bay will be without power as we replace that pole that has been compromised by flooding." he says.
Sharman says they're also working to keep the power on for another 6,000 customers who were initially facing temporary outages.
He says a 5 to 15-minute 'mini-outage' would have occurred at the beginning of the pole replacement, and at the end, so workers could switch lines.
