The lights are hung with care, the choirs are practicing their carols and they are perfecting their hot chocolate recipe as the community gets set to launch the festive season in the City of West Kelowna.
The free fun for all ages starts this Sunday, December 1 with the always-popular Skate with Santa and continues Friday, December 6 with the highly anticipated City Centre Light Up.
At Skate with Santa at Jim Lind Arena, you will enjoy free skating, hot chocolate and sweet treats and of course, a visit from Jolly Old St. Nick!
The event begins with our Parent and Tot Skate, for children under 6 years, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by a Public Skate, for all ages, from 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Skates are available to borrow on a first-come, first serve basis. We have children’s sizes 8 to 13 and adult sizes from 1 to 12.
Then join them for the big kick off to the holiday season – City Centre Light Up – Friday, December 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Brown Road from Main Street to Gossett Road.
There will be fun for everyone including choirs, kid’s crafts and activities, hot chocolate, food trucks and a performance by the Kinshira Fire Dancers.
Santa stops by to visit and help Mayor Milsom switch on the holiday lights at 6 p.m.
