A West Kelowna man has been charged after a 79-year-old woman was found badly beaten this week on Bear Lake Forest Service Road.
60-year-old Kevin Barrett faces one count of attempted murder - but police are not providing any details about the relationship between Barrett and the victim.
The woman is recovering from her injuries.
Kelowna RCMP Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey says investigators are continuing "their search for who they believe will be a key witness in this case. Further investigation has led police to believe that the victim and the accused may have come into contact with the unknown citizen, during the early evening hours of Monday, April 29th while still inside the victim’s West View Village mobile home complex.”
He says RCMP are still asking for that potential witness to come forward.
And a 30-year-old Calgary man, accused of grabbing a child in an attempted baby-snatching, before fleeing and jumping naked into Okanagan Lake, is being sent for a psychiatric assessment.
Harold Giffen Nyren has been charged with assault, and obstructing a police officer, after the incident at Kelowna's Kerry Park on Sunday, April 28th.
