Press release from Kelowna RCMP on May 4, 2020:
A 49-year-old West Kelowna man has been charged after breaking into a business and fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
West Kelowna RCMP were called to a break and enter at a business in the 2600-block of Compass Court in West Kelowna just after 6:00 a.m. on April 30th, 2020. Front line officers attended and determined that the lone male suspect had smashed a window, stolen over $7000 in merchandise and fled in GMC Yukon.
Investigation led to the arrest of a man several kilometres away, and the recovery of a GMC Yukon, which had been reported stolen a few days before. West Kelowna RCMP were also able to recover some of the merchandise stolen from the business.
BC Prosecution Service has approved charges of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break and enter tools, and failure to comply with a probation order against 49-year-old Gary Engedahl. He was brought before the Provincial court and has since been released from custody on conditions for a future court date.
