Tax notices went out at the end of May to more than 14,000 property owners within the City of West Kelowna and payments are now due.
The deadline to pay is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2.
Any taxes owing, not paid by the close of business July 2, are subject to a 10% penalty.
To avoid possible penalties, residents who have not yet paid their property taxes are encouraged to pay via one of the following options:
Those unable to visit Municipal Hall during regular business hours may use the exterior payment drop box located on the wall next to the main entrance. Please ensure drop box payments are via cheque or money order – no cash – and are in a sealed envelope with accompanying paperwork attached, with all forms completed in full. Business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. City Hall is closed Canada Day, Monday, July 1.
Those paying in person please note, the City of West Kelowna does not accept credit cards. The City will however accept cheques from credit card companies.
Those submitting payments by mail, please note that postmarks are not acceptable proofs of payment. Mailed payments received after July 2 are late and subject to the penalty.
Avoid line-ups by claiming your Home Owner Grant online at www.westkelownacity.ca/onlineservices. Once you have claimed your grant, you can also pay your taxes online by selecting the link to your financial institution and selecting “West Kelowna-Taxes” as the bill payee.
Please note, not all banks will accept the Home Owner Grant. Follow up with your financial institution to find out more.
Those unable to pay their full taxes can reduce their penalty by paying as much as possible and claiming their Home Owner Grant by the due date.
