The weather wasn't perfect. But many people hit Bernard Avenue on Canada Day checking out the new pedestrian walkway.
"It was pretty busy with people moving around," says Downtown Kelowna Association Executive Director Mark Burley. "There were a lot of umbrellas, which was interesting. But what was really great to see was, not only all the extended patio usage happening, but all the people who were using Bernard as a pedestrian walkway and the sidewalks and stopping at the shops as they walked along Bernard."
Restaurants were quite busy as well.
"We stopped for lunch and when we came out we noticed there was a lineup at the restaurant we were at, and we took a look at the restaurants across the street. A couple of them as well had people waiting outside to go in."
Bernard Avenue from the waterfront to St. Paul will stay pedestrian friendly until Labour Day.
