Flood recovery efforts in the Central Okanagan may slow down a bit as wildfire crews that were expected to help will be fighting fires instead.
About 160 B.C. Wildfire members have been helping with the flood emergency since May and about 80 were expected to remain to help take down flood protection measures.
But Laura Wilson with the Emergency Operations Centre says with fires burning in the province, the remaining crews are expected to leave on Tuesday.
“Certainly their main objective is to go and fight wildfires so we would expect that they will be heading to do that soon” she said.
The remaining wildfire crews will be removing sandbags in the Casa Loma and Pritchard areas on Monday and Tuesday before being redeployed.
Wilson says the recovery process will continue with contractor crews helping and municipalities taking on different roles.
