Environment Canada has issued a 'Snowfall Warning' for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt.
Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau says a frontal system, bringing rain to the coast, will move inland Tuesday afternoon and intensify in the evening "especially for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merriit."
She says "the snow will pick up this evening, becoming heavy at times, and a "Snowfall Warning' has been issued for that highway with up 25 centimetres there by Wednesday morning."
Charbonneau says the region between Hope and Merritt won't catch much of a break - more snow is expected Thursday and Friday with further accummulations.
Environment canada remids motorists to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
