The West Kelowna Fire Rescue has released a statement following the grass fire earlier this evening:
"West Kelowna Fire Rescue (WKFR) responded to a small wildfire in Powers Creek Canyon this evening shortly after 5 pm.
Two Engines, One Squad, a Safety Officer/Inspector and a Command unit were responded for a total of 11 staff on scene.
The first arriving crew found a 20 x 20 rank 2 grass fire and were able to quickly knock it down with hand lines.
Crews built a hand guard around the perimeter and extinguished the hotspots within.
