Okanagan search and rescue teams unite in search for missing man

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue has all hands on-deck today in the search for a missing 33-year-old male in Lake Country.
Search & Rescue teams from across the B.C. Interior have joined the ongoing hunt for Mitchell Gowing, who was last seen June 9 in the 1500 block of Harvey Avenue. Gowing’s 2008 white Ford Ranger was found at Pelmewash Way on Friday, igniting the search.
Teams from Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Merritt, Vernon, Penticton, and Grand Forks started working together Saturday morning to try and locate the young man.

Gowing’s family reported him missing last week and police said in a statement, “They are extremely worried about him as this behaviour is very uncharacteristic.”

He is described as:

  • Male, Caucasian
  • 5’7” tall
  • 147 lbs and very fit
  • Red-blonde hair, mostly shaved with a beard
  • Blue eyes

COSAR is asking residents in the Spion Kop area to check their property and out buildings for any sign of Gowing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP Detachment at 250-762-3300 or email COSAR here.
