With the cold weather upon us, park washrooms and water fountains, including water services at off-leash dog parks will close for the winter season on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The closures are necessary to prevent pipes from freezing throughout the colder months. Washrooms at Stuart Park, City Park and Gerstmar Park are year-round facilities and will remain open.
The cooler weather also means it’s time for Parks staff to winterize (blow out) park irrigation systems. Park-users may see what appears to be irrigation taking place during this time. Blowing out water from the irrigation system helps protect the systems, ensuring there isn’t water remaining that will freeze, expand and cause issues to irrigation lines during the winter.
All washrooms and water fountains are expected to re-open in early April, weather permitting.
