At approximately 4:00 p.m., Vernon Fire Rescue (VFRS) was dispatched to a report of flames and heavy smoke coming from Albert Place apartments at 3610 25th Avenue.
“When crews arrived, there was heavy smoke and the sprinkler system was active,” said Fire Chief David Lind. “Thanks to the efforts of the crew, the fire was contained to a single unit and did not spread.”
One person was rescued and was transferred to the Hospital by BC Ambulance Service.
The cause of fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.
