Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital has started to provide shelter for pets that have been evacuated due to wildfire activity.
“One day it’s me, the other day it’s them. It’s just part of being in the community, to try to help everyone,” said Dr. Moshe Oz. “We have a huge boarding facility so we have 40 or 50 (spaces) for cats, we have room for dogs, usually we get snakes, hamsters, rats and whatever you think.”
The clinic will provide free shelter, food and any medication the evacuated pets require. Dr. Oz says the business continues to operate as usual, and staff are prepared for the extra responsibilities of emergency sheltering, including after-hours calls.
“If somebody called the hospital it will patch to go to my cellphone and I’ll personally attend to it. I’ll come and I’ll open the doors, and of course, we already started to put everything together here, so we’re quite ready for everyone.”
